Raja Chatila is Professor Emeritus at Sorbonne University in Paris, France. He is former director of the SMART Laboratory of Excellence on Human-Machine Interactions and of the Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics. He was also a member of the High-Level Expert Group on AI with the European Commission. He chairs the IEEE Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems, and is co-chair of the Responsible AI working Group of the Global Partnership on AI.
His contributions in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, human–robot interaction and AI ethics are published in over 170 papers. He is an IEEE Fellow and recipient of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Pioneer Award.
