Chair: Vicky Charisi, Joint Research Centre, European Commission
This panel aims to elaborate on the current directions on Robotics in Education, with a focus on the suggested actions as appeared at the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027 of the European Commission and UNICEF's Policy Guidance for AI and Child’s Rights.
The panel will be structured around three main axes.
-
First, we will reflect on the existing scientific evidence on the impact of robots on child’s learning and development;
-
Second, we will discuss how these results can inform current design and developments of robots that promote the Rights of the Child; and
-
Third, we will examine the kind of policy support which is required in order to ensure that all the involved stakeholders prioritize and protect children’s current well-being and they unlock children’s potential as critical contributors to a European society powered by intelligent technologies, robotics and AI.
